  • How to plan my trip to Greece ?

Greece is a country with many possibilities and a big choice of activities.

Two things are very important to keep in mind:

  • Plan enough time for island hopping as you must consider the schedule of the ferries.

The easiest way to plan your trip is to think about what you would like to do during your holiday, and we will make the best proposal accordingly.

  • Do I need a passport or a visa to enter Greece ?

Greece is a European Union member and has signed the Schengen Agreement.

European citizens and citizens that are part of the Schengen Agreement need only a valid identity card or passport. No visa is required.

Citizens coming from other countries are asked to consult the Embassy whether a Visa is required or not.

  • What is the currency in Greece ?

The official currency of Greece is euros. Take some euros with you to be sure. Most of the shops, coffees and restaurants accept the credit card and you can use your debit card at the ATM’s located everywhere in Greece for cash.

  • What is the official language in Greece ?

The official language is Greek. Most of the people working in the tourist industry are speaking as well English.

As Greek is not a common language, nobody will be upset if you don’t speak Greek but everybody will be happy if you use some easy words like “Kalimera “ (Good Morning), “Yasou” (Hello), “Parakalo” (Please) “… just feel comfortable.

If you rent a car, don’t worry – Street signs are bilingual.

  • When is the best time to visit Greece ?

Greece has a Mediterranean climate where the sun is shining almost all year round.

April to June: discover nature at its best. Ideal for walks and cultural visits.

July to August: the dry hot days are cooled by seasonal winds called the meltemi. It is the peak tourist season.

September to October: Ideal for visiting the Greek islands and enjoy them without the mass tourism or as well for hiking and cultural visits.

November to March: Although Greece is renowned as a summer destination, there is a huge choice of visits and activities during the winter months. The climate is mild in coastal areas and cool temperatures in mountainous regions.
